Canterbury Tales Pre-Reading Activity

1. "Greed is the root of all evil." - I rated this statement as 1, always true. I believe this is always true because when somebody wants something, they will do anything to get it. That includes hurting everyone or everything around them.
2. "Power corrupts everyone who has it." -I rated this statement as a 2, sometimes true. This is because some people have never had money before, so when they get it, they start acting like they are better than everyone else. But sometimes when you might be more humble about your money and spend it wisely, instead of spending it on unnecessary things, just to make yourself look better.
3. "Dreams are often predictors of the future."-I rated this statement as a 2, sometimes true. I think this is sometimes true because if someone makes a dream in their head, they're strongly wanting to do it. If they actually go through with their, so-called, dreams, then it will become their future.
4. "No one understands morality better than the immoral."-I rated this statement as a 5. This is because the immoral doesn't do what is right because they were never taught it. If they were able to understand morality, they wouldn't act immorally. 
5. "The more educated you are, the better a person you are." - I rate this statement as a 2. This is because the more educated you are, the more you have been taught how to behave. The more education you have had, you have a better understanding of what is right or wrong. But at the same time, if you're uneducated, you still have feelings and you understand that others have feelings, too. So, sometimes they treat everyone equal because, they want to be treated equal.
6. "Society must be divided into classes in order to function properly." -I rate this statement as a 5. The reason behind this is because i, personally, believe that if we were all put into one class and were equal with everything, then society would function better. In a society where everyone is divided, then you have to worry about different types of people and you would have to think of ways to please everyone. Also, everyone would think differently of themselves. Like, upper classes would be stuck up and think they are better than everyone else, and lower class would think of themselves as nothing, because that is how they each would be treated.
7. "Turning the other cheek is the best response to cruelty." -I rate this statement as a 3. I'm not quite sure if i agree or disagree with this. It would all just depend on the situations, because every situation is very different. If you turn the other cheek, the cruelty will probably just follow you and get worse. If you something cruel to them back, you take the chance of getting in trouble also.
8. "When an agreement is made, it must be honored - no matter what." -I rate this statement as a 4. That's because some arguments it's just best to ignore because they are so unnecessary. You need to pick your battles wisely, that way you're not always arguing with people.
9. "Women should have all the power in a relationship." -I rate this statement as a 5. This is because relationships are a two-way street. They should be a partnership, you should have equal power in the relationship and make decisions together. In a relationship, i believe you need to be best friends and significant others, that way you know how to work everything out.
